A rare factory color, V8 power, and serious style all come together on this 1957 Ford Thunderbird. It even has both tops! So the total package makes for an attractive classic, and as you dig a little deeper, you'll see it's a great all-around cruiser.
The factory-correct Thunderbird Bronze is quite distinctive. Only offered in 1957, it's one of the rare colors that knows how to impress its sophisticated glow. This is the product of an older restoration, but the clearcoat application knows how to pop in the sunlight. So, it's exactly the kind of hue everyone secretly wishes was on their first-gen T-bird. Plus, there's a big shine on the 1957's special deeply-dipping front bumper and distinct rear bumper with integrated dual exhaust. Description
The emblems look brand new, the trim is complete, and you have a full set of wire wheels (inducing the Kelsey Hayes spare in the trunk.) You'll also appreciate details, like the rear fender skirts and a well-fitting white hardtop.
Not only do you have the choice of a dignified coupe-style hardtop, but also the new soft top has an attractively fresh presentation. Of course, the best way to enjoy this T-bird is with no roof at all. This one looks especially nice with the coordinating bronze interior. The 1957 car was catching up to Chevrolet's Corvette, and so they had some added sporty style to go with the personal luxury image. This one seems to show that off well with the machine-turned panels on the dash and doors shining bright. You'll appreciate how the small factory details are working – everywhere from the courtesy light to the tach. But this was also subtly upgraded to be a better cruiser. You have a one-piece color-matched armrest center console with cup holders. It gives the seats an individual level of comfort, but you can easily remove it if you're a purist. And while the radio looks like the classic Town & Country AM unit, it really has been upgraded into an FM unit with MP3 and Bluetooth for the best in modern driving music.
The larger D-code "Thunderbird Special" 312 cubic-inch V8 was a nice option in '57, and so it's ideal to have the year-correct block still under the hood today. The correct Ford red paint on the block, chrome air cleaner, and special Thunderbird valve covers all look great in the engine bay. This V8 fires up eagerly as it inhales deeply with the four-barrel carburetor. It idles nicely and makes a dignified tune from the dual exhaust. And features like the automatic transmission and power brakes make this one ready to hit the road.
