NUMBERS MATCH 327 V8, TH400 AUTO, FACTORY CORRECT COLORS, GORGEOUS RESTORATION!

Great original colors, a numbers-matching 327 cubic inch V8, and a gorgeous presentation, is there anything else you could want in a Corvette? Oh, and it's also a highly original, low ownership convertible with low believed actual miles – treated to a beautiful restoration that preserved every drop of the vintage C3 excellence we all love. Suspended it in time for decades to come, chrome bumper Corvettes don't get much better than this, especially if originality is high on your list of priorities. If you've been looking for a dialed in droptop, then this 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible might mean your search is over.

Repainted back to the rarely seen and correct Code 992 Corvette Bronze finish it was born with, this early C3 looks fantastic today. With a deep luster, a smooth and uniformed surface, and a wonderful gloss and shine that can be see in our pictures (and trust us, it shines up even better in person), it's obvious that no expense was spared on the professional application of this repaint. We'll call it a top-end driver quality job, simply because nothing in this world is perfect and there are a couple minor imperfections that can be seen with your nose up to the car, but ...

We'll call it a top-end driver quality job, simply because nothing in this world is perfect and there are a couple minor imperfections that can be seen with your nose up to the car, but rest assured this is a dialed-in finish atop a laser-straight body. That's right, the fiberglass and bird cage underneath is in excellent condition as well, showing off the kind of strong bones that only lightly used, original cars that have never been abused can boast about. This color combination will never go out of style and unlike so many other cars from the late 60s, it doesn't have a dated look. Instead, the deep shine accentuates the all-new C3 look, which is particularly appealing with the hidden headlights, slick hood, and top that goes down. For many, the early chrome bumper Corvettes are the ones to own, and the shiny stuff on this car is about as brightly finished as you can get, and all of it is likely original to the car.

The beautiful Tobacco interior is also how this car was originally spec'd, and as you probably expect by now, it's all incredibly impressive. The sporty buckets look inviting and the vinyl used is high-end OEM quality; nice enough that you won't be wishing for leather. Plush carpets, crisply rendered door panels, and a contrasting-colored dash and center console all show extremely well. In fact, the only signs of use would could find inside the entire cabin were some slight comfort marks on the driver's seat bolster, but we're really nit-picking at that point. Corvette designers did a great job with the early C3s and the level of detailing, right down to the color-matched horn button and color-keyed floormats, is a big part of the appeal. The original AM/FM radio is still in place and remarkably it still works in tandem with the big antenna out back, but if we're honest the only music that matters in this Corvette is the symphony bellowing from under the hood. Other options include power windows, seatbelts, and factory A/C, although the latter will need a service before it's blowing cold again. The white convertible top is newer and in great condition and features a clear plastic window, and even though it seals up tight and protects this beauty from the elements, it sure would be a shame to drive something this nice in the rain.

Under the hood is the car's original, numbers-matching 327/300HP cubic inch V8, and it fires right up, sounds great, and drives/performs wonderfully. Seriously, we had one of our best test drives when we first took this droptop out for a spin, in fact it was difficult to go back inside and get back to work after such a great drive. It's street-friendly with great throttle response, plenty of torque, and high-revving performance, which is why you buy a high-horsepower small block in the first place. The engine bay is nicely dressed with a correct chrome air cleaner and orange valve covers decked out with proper '327' decals, and the block itself was also neatly painted in Chevy Orange engine enamel. As you might expect, it runs superbly, particularly with a well-tuned Demon 4-barrel carburetor and responsive distributor, and most everything else appears stock right down to the exhaust manifolds. The TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and rear end are also likely original to the car, and as long as you're looking around under there, please note that the true-dual exhaust system was upgraded in the not-too-distant past, and there's zero evidence that this car has ever been driven in a harsh conditions. It's very solid under there, with replacement parts everywhere you look, including a recently rebuilt suspension, while the 4-wheel disc brakes provide excellent stopping power. Finishing off the correct look is a set of 15-inch Rally wheels with BFGoodrich white-letter tires all around.

Long-term ownership, believed actual mileage, and a gorgeous presentation thanks to a higher-end restoration and terrific preservation throughout the years. If you're looking for a dialed-in chrome bumper 'Vette, you can't ask for much more than all this '68 Corvette has to offer. Call today!
