This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner is attractive for its commitment to vintage style and overall clean look that comes from over 40 years under the same family's care. But we know what really attracts you to this one. There's just something irresistible about a Mopar hardtop with a street-eating dual-quad Hemi under the hood - and the VIN even tells us it was born this way!
A great car can be a family affair. The consignor recalls his father buying this Road Runner around 1982. He would spend the next three decades enjoying, cherishing, and restoring this coupe. His son picked up the torch in 2010, and he has kept it looking excellent. Blue Fire Metallic was a bold color when new, and the way his father's respray continues to shine today lets you tell this car's history with pride. We also just love these first-gen Road Runners because they have a true muscle car style. The big shining chrome bumpers emphasize the wide road-owning style, the crisp body lines are imposing, and the wide exhaust tips signal serious power under the hood. And speaking of the hood, the matte black racing stripe and vent trim with red inserts really add to the aggressive style. There is a commitment to ... Please ask for the full description.

There is a commitment to keeping things looking stock on this car. You see it in the little things, like the Road Runner graphics on the door and Chrysler pentastar badge on the lower fenders. Plus, the steel wheels with redline tires are pure old-school cool, and they are the correct 15-inch size for Hemi cars. So there's a cool idea here of an heirloom car that also likes to have a time capsule kind of style.
Open the door, and you'll find one of the best interiors you will ever see on a Road Runner. Where most of these are dark-and-stark budget classics, this car features a seriously attractive intertwining of white and light blue. The vinyl seats and door panels are looking great and retain all the cool original trim. In fact, this keeps plenty of original elements, including the working dome light, heater/defrost controls, classic spare/jack, and the AM radio that's there for a display. The bench seats of this big coupe make it a legitimate six-passenger automobile, but it's the driver that's clearly the most important in this Plymouth. You get the grippy factory three-spoke wheel that has the kind of worn-in presentation where you can feel the generation that came before you... and yes, pressing the cartoon character triggers the signature Beep! Beep!
The engine bay has a clean and show-ready style, which is a good thing, because you'll be showing off the powerhouse everywhere you park this Plymouth. The VIN tells us this was born with the optional 426 cubic-inch Hemi V8 with twin Carter four-barrel carburetors on top. This is important because the Road Runner was often a budget muscle car where people didn't purchase any expensive options. So when you combine the upgraded V8 with the A727 three-speed automatic transmission noted on the trim tag, the rarity is reported that this could be one of less than 200 made in 1969! We do not have any numbers-matching info or date coding on the block, but it is encouraging when you have over 40 years with one family, and the son ever recalling the engine being out of the car. Right now it feels more tuned to be a cruiser, which seems correct for a car with this kind of history, but we also bet you know how to unlock the Saturday night hero if you really wanted to. It's a good classic that wants you to feel the road like an old-school muscle car, but the years of good care also mean it feels tight and quite confident. So it's the one that's fun to take to shows and events.
The sale comes complete with the original warranty card, the owner's manual, and some handy spare components. It's all about keeping the tradition going for a special and rare Mopar muscle machine. Call today!!!
